One of the best coffees in the world is produced in Colombia.
It’s no surprise that this country was high on my travel bucket list. I was eager to experience its rich culture, meet its warm and vibrant people, and explore some of the most popular coffee flavors on the planet.
And Colombia didn’t disappoint!
La Palma y El Tucan Coffee Farm
We began our Colombian adventure at the stunning La Palma y El Tucan Hotel & Coffee Farm.
If you’ve ever dreamed of the perfect coffee farm, this is it!
The owner, his family, and the friendly staff welcomed us with open arms, making us feel like part of their family.
After savoring a traditional Colombian lunch and an exceptional cup of freshly roasted coffee, we settled into our cozy accommodation: a dreamy treehouse-style cabin with beautiful views. The best part? a net hammock by the balcony where I could relax and enjoy my cup of good coffee.
Later, Jeff, one of the passionate team members, gave us an in-depth tour of their operations. We learned how Colombian specialty coffee is grown, harvested, and roasted to perfection. I even had the chance to brew my coffee, Colombian-style. 😊This wasn’t just good coffee, it was outstanding specialty-grade coffee, lovingly crafted and brewed.

The next morning, after a delicious breakfast accompanied by the tastiest coffee, we explored the farm’s scenic bike trails. To top it off, we made a furry friend: a friendly dog who decided to be our guide.
We left La Palma y El Tucan with one thing in mind: we’ll be back!
Ibaque and the Hippie Cabin
Our next stop took us to a charming hippie cabin near Ibagué perched on a scenic mountain slope. The journey to the cabin was an adventure in itself, as, we hiked a steep trail through Arreboles coffee farm, enjoying spectacular views along the way, and especially from the cabin itself.
In the evening, we explored the quaint town of Villa Restrepo and took in the captivating sight of the Nevado del Tolima volcano. We promised that one day we would come back to hike it.

The following morning, Jose Luis, the owner of Arreboles coffee farm and the hippie cabin, joined us to share stories about his ethical coffee practices and the organic roasted coffee he grows and sells locally.
After a delightful breakfast, we set off for our next destination.
Salento & Kawa Mountain Retreat
We spent our last few days in Colombia at Kawa Mountain Retreat, nestled in the charming town of Salento. Known for its coffee estates and vibrant scenery. Salento was the perfect place to end our journey.
Kawa Mountain Retreat was a dream, with great views of Cocora Valley, delicious meals, attentive staff, and impeccable attention to detail.
Salento’s food and drink scene was impressive from the beautifully presented breakfasts at Kawa to trendy coffee shops and the best-rated restaurants in town, we were blown away.
We also stumbled upon Hecho en Café - a shop crafting unique items from coffee grounds. Of course, I couldn’t resist buying a pair of adorable coffee mug-shaped earrings. My perfect souvenir. 😊
The highlight of this leg of our trip was an unforgettable run through Cocora Valley, home to the majestic wax palms, the tallest palm trees in the world. The views were absolutely incredible.

We ended our short but inspiring coffee adventure in Colombia with one last cup of roasted coffee and a delicious coffee dessert.
